Times are a Changing

So Mommy says the first week of kindergarten she learned things like ABCs and 123s (as if she actually remembers). Wanna know what I learned the first week of kindergarten?   All about LOCKDOWN.

Lockdown is when they have to lock all the doors to the school until it's safe again. So we learned what to do in our classroom, what to do in the lunchroom, what to do in the library, what to do in gym and what to do in the different center we go to each day. Sometimes you have to get under the desk, depending on why the lockdown is happening. I'm not sure what the big deal is, but Mommy says it's sad this is the first thing I had to learn in kindergarten.

Maybe now that we know all about that, we can start learning innocent things, like ABCs...

Sleeping Beauty Ballet Camp

Before school started, I got to go to dance camp. It was Sleeping Beauty Ballet Camp. Ballet camp is serious stuff, not only did I have to wear an official ballet outfit and do my hair ballerina style (bun or ponytail only), there was a performance at the end of camp. Here are some pics of the performance fun.

So happy to see my little brother there....

By the way he's pointing, I'm thinking he's so happy to see the other ballerinas there....

Pre-performance pose....

Let the performance begin...

Do you see the way he's looking into my eyes, he's mesmerized!

Ballet camp art...

Post-performance pose. I rocked the performance!!!!

Ballet, it ain't that hard. Look I can do it too....

Me and Sleeping Beauty (she's a real ballerina)....

Camp was so much fun, I want to be a ballerina now!!! Mommy and Daddy spent a small fortune on ballet camp, but the real expense were the tights - I kept running them, so I needed a new pair every day. If I keep that up, I'm not sure they'll be able to afford more ballet lessons...

Kindergarten Predictions

Before Kindergarten
What’s going to be the best thing about kindergarten?
AB - "That we learn and get to go outside on the playground, eat lunch and have a nurse if we don’t feel good. It’s like taking care of children. That’s the best thing about kindergarten."

What’s the worst thing about going to kindergarten?
AB - "Having my friends go to the principal’s office."

Why would they go there?
AB - "Some of my friends will be boys. Like John from preschool, he’ll have to go to the principal's office cause he doesn’t behave."

After The First Day of Kindergarten

What was the best thing about kindergarten?
AB - "Having fun. We got to go on the playground. There was bird poop on the playground. There really was."

What was the worst thing about going to kindergarten?
AB - "I didn’t have a worst part."

Kindergarten Eve

You are probably wondering why a colorful, creative person such as myself would have a plain white envelope on here. This envelope holds my ticket to kindergarten.

My parent's won't be getting Parent of the Year Awards this year. Here we are on the eve of my first day of kindergarten and I almost didn't get to go....Apparently, you have to have a completed physical form before they will let you enter school and my parents missed that information in the school letter. But, in the nick of time, 15 minutes before the doctor's office closed the day before I am supposed to report to my kindergarten post, we were able to get my kindergarten physical form - of course for a small fee. So tomorrow I start my educational journey.

You are probably asking, what am I doing this afternoon before such a big day. I have spent the day  trying to help my Mommy spend so much money that when my first day of college comes, she won't think it's that expensive.

We started at having to go to lunch. Then we had to go to the craft store to get me some more canvases for my painting addiction. Then we were off to Target to get the last of my school supplies. She said she almost had to take out a small loan to pay for all the supplies you need in kindergarten.  All  we had left to get was special coloring pencils and regular pencils. Well after visiting 2 Targets and Walmart - we came up empty. So I guess I'll just have to use the other type coloring pencils I have to take or the 4 boxes of crayons I needed until we can secure the right supplies. I thought, Mommies were supposed to be so excited for kindergarten that they were much more prepared than mine seems to be. Well just one more reason Mommy won't be getting the POTYA.

Then the idea hit me, that you have to have a new outfit for the first day of school. So we had to buy one of those, too. I conned her into buying me a new coloring book as well. I think she's a softie today...

Well after going with Mommy to end up not getting the last of my school supplies, I've been playing with my new paperdolls of course.

I've even made special plastic bags with their names on them to keep them organized.

But rest assured, before I started playing, I got my homework done. Yes people, you have homework in kindergarten. It's not all ABC's and 123's. Here's my representation of my favorite part of the book Biscut Goes to School.

As I've told my Mommy a few times today when she's asked me a question, my sage wisdom for you folks out there, "I don't know, sometimes that's just the way life is..."

Wish me luck on my big day!

Cinderella's Work

Mommy: “We need to clean up around here and I need your help”.

AB: “Can I just stand around and watch you clean up.  I think cleaning is going to be too much for me today. I can just supervise you”.

For the record though, AB did start cleaning on her own accord and even cleaned her first toilet – with latex gloves on of course.
